Age: 26

Works at: Charlie Bigham’s

Job Title: Assistant brand manager

When Bearn joined Charlie Bigham’s in 2011, after graduating with a masters in archeology from Cambridge, sales t0talled £5m. Today turnover is £20m, in no small thanks to Bearn, who successfully guided the luxury ready meals supplier into Sainsbury’s. Her efforts included running a crucial marketing campaign to support the trial phase in 50 stores before the full roll out to all 400, as well as a coupon-at-the-till campaign to win over Sainsbury’s customers. This, she says, was “highly targeted & highly effective”. She also believes her degree in archaeology has helped shift fancy fish pie: “Archaeology looks at materials and things, and the relationship that people have with them. Likewise, brand marketing is concerned with people’s relationship with your brand and your products. If you can understand that relationship you can use it to sell more stuff.”
