- In October Duracell is pioneering a smoke alarm campaign in support of the Home Office's attempts to encourage proper smoke alarm installation and maintenance. For just a modest outlay, smoke alarms have saved countless lives but they depend on a good working battery. Themed Best Friends', the campaign shows how a good battery and smoke alarm are the best of friends, working together to save lives. It will feature a cartoon Duracell nine volt battery and alarm and will emphasise regular checking and changing of batteries. Gillette business unit director for batteries Stephen Tennant says: "The smoke alarm issue is as important as ever, but the emphasis is now on maintenance of both the alarm and battery." - Duracell is teaming up with leading electrical manufacturers to launch The Duracell Ultra Quest For the Best' guide. It has invited manufacturers to elect the products they think will be among their Christmas bestsellers. These selections are being presented in a pocket-sized guide which will be given free to consumers. It will also be handed out at shopping centres, profiled in The Mirror in a special supplement, and there will be regional press competitions to win selected products in the guide. - The Duracell Bunny is being sent on a quest to find out if retailers are making the most of their battery fixtures. Kitted out in walking gear, complete with boots and rucksack, he will be displayed at PoS with an offer to send off proof of purchases from three Ultra packs plus £11.99 (inc p&p) for a bunny complete with four Ultra batteries. The Duracell Bunny will also be dropping into retailers in his Bunnymobile' to see if they are maximising sales and testing them on product knowledge. {{FOCUS SPECIALS }}
