Waitrose has revealed plans to open six Little Waitrose stores in central London this year.

A year after opening its first Little Waitrose store in Old Brompton Road, Kensington, the upmarket supermarket said it would open new shops in Fulham Palace Road, Muswell Hill, Parsons Green, Vauxhall and two other central London locations by the end of 2012.

“We have quickly established ourselves within the convenience sector and annual sales are strong. Today’s announcement underlines the role Little Waitrose will play in driving our growth and our ambition to make us accessible and convenient for everyone in London,” said Waitrose director of store development Diana Hunter, .

Waitrose will create 350 new jobs by opening the new central London convenience stores.

The supermarket also has plans to open more Little Waitrose stores outside the capital. It has already announced plans to open new stores in Ipswich and Birmingham over the coming weeks.
