M&S living wall

M&S is the clear winner of the supermarkets on Instagram with 497,000 followers, data from social media analytics platform Iconosquare has revealed.

The retailer is way ahead of its rivals on the photo-sharing app, dwarfing the second place taken by Waitrose with 173,000 followers, Sainsbury’s with 109,000 followers and Tesco with 108,000 followers.

Asda comes the last of the big four with 71,700, followed by Lidl with 70,200 and then Morrisons with 34,600.

Despite Aldi taking on high-end rivals like M&S this year by adding 200 premium products to its Christmas range, Aldi only has 21,400 Instagram followers. Co-op Food follows with 11,200 and Ocado is last with 8,700 followers.
