The whisky draws inspiration from the brand’s past and its founder George Smith

Pernod Ricard has unveiled a 12-year-old limited-edition whisky under its The Glenlivet brand.

The whisky (48% abv) is the first in a series of limited-edition launches that “celebrate the brand’s origins and passion for originality”, it said, and collectively form The Original Stories range.

The range will see annual limited-edtion launches, each offering a different taste experience and in uniquely designed packaging.

Called The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still, the first launch is billed as an expression that draws inspiration from the brand’s past and from its founder George Smith.

It “intensifies” The Glenlivet’s fruity and floral style, it said, and is characterised by tropical and sweet notes, with a long and smooth finish.

It will launch exclusively at Amazon on 6 November (rsp: £45/70cl).

Pernod Ricard UK commercial director Ian Peart said he was “confident the launch will inspire whisky enthusiasts” and was “perfectly primed” for the Christmas gifting period, in which, he said, direct delivery to recipients would be important.

He added the total whisky category had experienced 81.1% value growth on Amazon [Profitero 12 w/e 5 October 2020], alongside wider growth in e-commerce.
