Food and drink companies scooped a host of prizes at the presentation of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise this week.

In the international trade category, awards went to Jordans Cereals, Clearwater Hampers, edible pulse producer Maviga, frozen pelagic fish company J Marr, herring, mackerel and whitefish firm Fresh Catch, and Biocatalysts, which produces enzymes for food processors.

Winners in the category have to show substantial sales growth over three years or continuous growth over six.

Frozen chips maker McCain Foods GB picked up an award in the innovation category in recognition of its continuous innovation and development of Home Fries. MD Nick Vermont said: “Innovation is at the heart of the McCain business.”
