Interbrew is trialling a new pack format to give consumers the experience of pulling a pint of lager in their own home. The Stella Artois Mini Barrel features patented technology designed to deliver what the brewer describes as "pub draught quality" beer.
Containing five litres of lager, the pack has a 28-day shelf life after opening, and can be stored in the fridge.
It is currently being tested in Tesco stores and is priced at £15.99.
Steve Kitching, take home sales director at Interbrew, said: "Since the launch of the widget in the 1980s, there has been little innovation in terms of packaging in the take home market. The Stella Artois Mini-Barrel will change the way consumers drink at home by dispensing the highest quality draught Stella Artois available outside of a pub."
