Aldi is set to open 10 new stores over the next 14 weeks, while another 30 are to get a refresh.
Locations in line to get a new Aldi include Oldbury in the West Midlands, Fulham Broadway in London and Brighouse in West Yorkshire.
New Aldi stores are also set to open in Caterham in Surrey and Deeside in Wales.
Meanwhile, stores in Herne Bay in Kent and Ancoats in Manchester are among those set to be refreshed with enhancements.
Aldi currently has more than 1,050 UK stores, and has set a long-term target of growing the estate to 1,500.
It has pledged to invest £650m expanding its footprint this year alone.
Kantar’s monthly grocery sales update yesterday showed Aldi’s growing at their fastest rate since the start of 2024, rising by 6.7% year on year in the 12 weeks to 18 May 2025. Its market share hit a record 11.1%, up from 10.8% a year earlier.
The data also showed grocery price inflation hit 4.1% in the four weeks to 18 May, the highest rate since February 2024, and a level that typically triggers “changes in behaviour” of consumers, Kantar head of insight Fraser McKevitt noted.
Aldi said each new store would create around 40 new jobs.
The discounter is the highest-paying supermarket in London based on entry level rates, at £14.05 an hour. Across the rest of the country, Aldi is joint-highest payer with Lidl, with both offering £12.75 an hour.
From September, Aldi’s rates are increasing to £14.16 inside the M25 and £12.85 elsewhere. Aldi also offers paid breaks, which it says are worth approximately £1,370 a year to the average store worker.
“Our goal is to ensure everyone has access to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we’re committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans,” said Aldi UK MD of national real estate Jonathan Neale.
“We’re targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of our current stores will also be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK.”
