The brewery expansion has created six new jobs, including two for apprentices

Bristol Beer Factory has announced a £1.2m investment in a new, environmentally sustainable production facility.

The 12,000 sq ft brewery is double the size of its original site and will increase production capacity and create six new jobs.

The new brewery also features carbon capture and vapour heat recovery technology to improve carbon efficiency. The carbon captured is recycled and reused to carbonate Bristol Beer Factory’s beers.

The technology would deliver estimated annual savings of £100,000, while helping Bristol Beer Factory to become net zero by 2024, the supplier said.

“We’re continuing towards our goal of being a leading brand in the city that’s known for doing right by the community we operate in,” said Bristol Beer Factory managing director Sam Burrows. “This new brewery means we can better respond to a positive trend in customer demand while also increasing our ability to deliver social value-driven projects.”

The project was part-funded through a seven-figure capital import finance and hire purchase funding package from Lloyds Bank.

Bristol Beer Factory was a “shining example of what sustainable growth looks like”, said Will Kite, relationship director at Lloyds.

“By investing in greener production and deepening its community roots, it’s driving lasting value across Bristol,” he added.

Bristol Beer Factory was founded in south Bristol in 2004 and sells 80% of its volumes directly to local venues in the city. It also owns four pubs across the city.

Its beers – which include Independence Pale Ale and Clear Head Alcohol Free IPA – are also available nationwide through wholesale.
