Carling has revived its Black Label moniker to launch a new premium British lager.

Carling Black Label, a 4.7% abv lager made from 100% British barley, promises “an intense flavour experience” with “plenty of pleasant bitterness and a rounded finish”.

It will launch across UK grocery, wholesale and convenience channels from 16 March in in 4x568ml, 4x568ml and 10x440ml pack formats (rsps: TBC).

Its launch will be supported by a consumer marketing campaign including PR, social and influencer engagement.

Carling Black Label was the name originally given to Carling’s flagship, namesake lager until the late 1990s.

The new brew would help tap “the nostalgia many feel for the original Black Label,” while giving retailers “a full-bodied, premium option from a trusted, leading British brand,” said Carling owner Molson Coors.

“Carling has been loved by people for decades, bringing mates together for occasions that matter,” said brand director Ryan Mclaughlin. “Now we’re taking the brand into the future, while honouring its heritage – giving drinkers an exciting new lager that celebrates the role Carling continues to play in British drinking culture.”

Kevin Fawell, UK sales director at Molson Coors, added: “Carling Black Label is a full-flavoured lager designed for today’s beer market, and we’re confident it will resonate with both those who remember the name and those discovering it for the first time.

“To be able to expand the Carling offering for our customers is a really exciting opportunity for us to reach new and existing Carling drinkers.”

It comes with Carling’s flagship 4% abv lager in freefall. Value sales slid 13.6% (£41.0m) on volumes down 12.7% last year [NIQ 52 w/e 6 September 2025].
