Caterforce is rolling out improved recipes across its own-brand range to deliver healthier nutrition and support responsible sourcing.
The buying group has continued to reduce salt content in Chefs’ Selections products to align with Public Health England’s 2024 targets. These include reformulating its Chicken & Mushroom Slices to ”significantly reduce salt content without compromising on taste or quality”, Caterforce said.
The Chefs’ Selections Soft Spread has also been improved to reduce salt levels, resulting in an estimated 1.6 tonnes of salt removed annually.
Across the entire range, these latest changes mean more than 15.6 tonnes of salt has been eliminated to date.
“We are committed to driving innovation and reformulation right across our range, setting the standard in the foodservice sector,” said Joanna Halucha, Caterforce head of own brand, buying and technical.
“Our focus is on creating products that not only align with evolving public health guidance but also deliver on the flavour, quality, and value our customers expect.”
In looking to support responsible sourcing, Caterforce said it was also continuing to eliminate palm oil from more products in the range.
The Chefs’ Selection Flour Tortillas have now been reformulated using rapeseed oil instead of palm oil and its Hash Browns are now produced from sunflower oil instead of palm oil.
