Emporia Brands is relaunching the Cutty Sark whisky brand in the UK in a bid to tap into the buoyant malt whisky market.

Cutty Sark is a blended whisky but the company hopes to lure lucrative single malt drinkers by focusing on the fact that more than 20 single malt whiskies are included in Cutty Sark Blended Malt.

"Although the UK whisky market has been declining for a number of years, the premium sector is showing consistent growth," said chairman James Rackham. "This is the area we aim to target with Cutty Sark, which is a high-quality whisky with a taste suiting today's drinkers."

The company hopes to tap into UK cocktail culture by promoting the fact that the brand was created at the height of the 1920s cocktail boom. It has a light style suited to cocktail making, said Rackham.

Cutty Sark Blended Malt (rsp: £19.99) is available from this week along with Cutty Sark Original (rsp: £14.99.).
