McDonald’s UK & Ireland chief marketing officer Ben Fox has stepped down after 14 years with the fast food giant.

Fox joined McDonald’s in 2012 and during his time with the business, held roles including senior media and budget manager, head of media and brand experience UK&I, senior director of global media, and CMO for 36 ‘international developmental licensed’ markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

He then took on the role as chief marketing officer for the UK and Ireland in January 2025.

Announcing his departure on LinkedIn, Fox said: “After 14 wonderful years, I have decided that the time is now right for me to take on a new challenge beyond the Golden Arches.

“The joy of the job has been meeting so many talented, driven people, from our franchisees to suppliers and my corporate colleagues, many of whom I now call my friends and who always made the hard work such fun.

“I’m extremely proud of everything we have achieved together over the years, none more so than the sales growth over the last 16 months.”

He noted that highlights over the past year included launching Big Arch and Mixology, the World Menu Heist, the Grinch Meal, and the Secret Menu.

“Having completed the restructure of the talented marketing team, I know they are well positioned to build on this momentum and grab all of the future commercial opportunities. I’ll be cheering from the sidelines as you go on to ever greater success,” Fox added.
