The High Protein Lean Pork Sausages hit Tesco shelves nationwide this week with the High Protein Chicken Nuggets to follow from 22 June

Healthy meals challenger brand The Gym Kitchen is launching two new high-protein chicken nugget and sausage SKUs.

The High Protein Lean Pork Sausages (rsp: £3.40/340g) hit Tesco shelves nationwide this week, with the High Protein Chicken Nuggets (rsp: £4.50/400g) to follow from 22 June.

The sausages follow the success of the brand’s Chicken Sausages, with each two-sausage serving providing 17g of protein.

Landing in the frozen aisle, The Gym Kitchen said the nuggets “punch well above the market average on protein per serving, packing in 24g” and were air fryer and oven-friendly.

The brand said the two pieces of NPD had been developed to tap into mainstream family mealtimes, “plugging a gap for high-protein everyday favourites and broadening the brand’s appeal beyond its core fitness shopper”.

The brand added the nuggets and sausages also steered clear of “red traffic lights for fat, saturates, sugar or salt” to meet the increasing demand for healthier food options.

“Chicken nuggets and pork sausages are mainstream household staples and neither has seen much meaningful protein innovation,” said The Gym Kitchen founder Segun Akinwoleola. “The Gym Kitchen is changing that with these new launches, filling much-needed gaps in a category largely untouched by functional food innovation.”
