Waitrose has continued the rollout of its convenience store estate this week with a new opening in Bristol.

The Little Waitrose in The Arches area of the city opened on Thursday. It is just under 3,000 sq ft and employs 25 staff. The launch is part of a £1bn investment in its store estate announced by the upmarket retailer in August 2024.

As part of that commitment, Waitrose confirmed plans to open 100 new Little Waitrose stores and four new supermarkets over a five-year period.

The Arches site will sell more than 3,400 products, including Waitrose own brand ranges No.1 and Essential Waitrose. This includes a Waitrose No.1 £15 evening meal deal and a £5 lunchtime deal. The store will also facilitate local delivery using Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat, as well as allowing shoppers to collect John Lewis and Waitrose Entertaining orders.

The store is being managed by Tom Blyth, who has 18 years experience with JLP. He started out as a section manager at John Lewis Nottingham and has moved from his role as manager of the nearby Little Waitrose Clifton.

“It’s fantastic to be part of such a significant nationwide investment,” he said. “My team and I have been busy getting everything ready to welcome customers to their brand new shop. They’ll discover our great range of quality products on offer, as well as convenient delivery and pick up options, capped by the excellent service the partnership is famous for.

“Coming from Clifton to The Arches, I’m pleased to continue supporting the local community through our outstanding customer experience and the creation of job opportunities.”
