Spar International will be monitoring the results of an RFID trial at Spar Austria early next year to gauge whether the technology could be applied successfully by other Spar members, including the UK.
Spar Austria, which has a significant share of the Austrian grocery market, is planning to trial RFID tags on roll-cages moving between one of its distribution centres and selected stores. Spar International deputy general manager Gerrit Kok said that learnings from the trial would be shared across International Spar.
