Ethnic food retailer Taj has opened a second store, in Crawley, West Sussex.

The new store, which opened last Thursday, selling fresh fruit, vegetables and world cuisine, is the retailer’s first venture out of its home city of Brighton. It had two stores in the city, but closed one in December.

Director Amir Khan said many customers to the Brighton store were from Crawley. “We are meeting local demand,” he added.

However, Taj has fierce competition in Crawley. There is an Asda superstore close by, an M&S, a Sainsbury’s Central and two ethnic food stores.
