Morrisons gets in the mood with Valentine’s Day love rub
Music may be the food of love but Morrisons is hoping that actual food does the job too after developing a range of Valentine’s Day inspired treats.
Executive chef Neil Nugent has developed an aphrodisiac-infused ‘love rub’ to coat its sirloin steaks. The ‘Cupid’s Seasoning’ includes chilli and chocolate as well as coffee.
“The unique steak tastes great accompanied with chips, an egg for him and a salsa or guacamole for her,” said Nugent. “We hope the results are satisfying all round.”
Morrisons will be selling the pre-seasoned steaks at half price (£9/kg) until 14 February.
The retailer will also be moulding its in-store produced salmon and prawn fishcakes into the shape of a heart this week. These will also be sold at half price.
In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, Morrisons expects to sell 1.1m bunches of flowers, 21,000 fresh oysters, 800,000 boxes of chocolates and 250,000 bottles of fizz.

E-mailed Morrisions to ask for recipe or if it would be on sale. Advised recipe is confidential and no plans for sale of rub but would be put forward. On a possitive note I found this reciope which sounds close
Ingredients
1/4 cup sea salt
2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
3 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
Directions
1. Stir the salt, cocoa powder, white sugar, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, and black pepper in a small bowl until combined. Store in an airtight container.
2. To use, rub 2 to 3 teaspoons of the spice mixture onto a serving of meat, and let stand at least 10 minutes before cooking.
