Culinary alcohol supplier Thomas Lowndes is gearing up for Christmas with a raft of indulgent sweet and savoury recipes. In partnership with Devon Desserts, formerly BG Foods, two Lamb's Navy Rum desserts will be launched at the end of November. An individual dessert laced with rum comes in 140g (rsp 99p) and 750g (rsp £3.99), and a light spiced Christmas pudding with a rum flavoured custard comes in a 2 x 120g twin pot for £1.79. It is also bringing out an own label range for Sainsbury, M&S and Waitrose. Part of Allied Domecq, Thomas Lowndes claims its brand volume has increased by 45%, representing more than 50% of its total profit, and that this growth has come from exclusive co branded activity. Sales and marketing director James Whittaker said this, plus European opportunities and foodservice, are being targeted for further development. The company is finalising a deal with an ice cream manufacturer. "We will also be looking to acquire more brands in 2001. These include two liqueurs, a vodka, a premium malt whisky and a vermouth," he said. {{P&P }}
