New Product Awards 2019

Entry deadline is 25 February 2019

Entry is now open for The Grocer’s 2019 New Product Awards – a celebration of innovation in branded goods across 36 grocery categories of food and non-food.

To be eligible, products must be introduced or developed between 1 January 2018 and 28 February 2019. They must be new to the UK market, reformulated, repositioned to target new markets or significantly repackaged, or an extension of an existing range.

Enter via our dedicated website. The deadline is 25 February 2019.

Our rigorous judging process has two stages. Each item is first tried and tested by at least 50 consumers under controlled conditions. Assessed for factors including visual appearance, taste, texture, packaging and value for money, it’s then further scrutinised by our expert panel. Combined scores from the two stages are used to determine the winners.

Winners will be announced on 4 October at London’s Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, at a lavish lunchtime ceremony hosted by The Grocer’s editor, Adam Leyland, and a celebrity guest.

Award recipients will gain exposure across The Grocer in print and online, and be given a winner’s logo to use in all promotional marketing.

For 2018’s demanding competition, Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich, Slimming World Free Food Chinese-Style Banquet Rice, Radox Scent Touch Feel Lively, and Belvoir Botanical Juniper & Tonic were among 29 products to be recognised as top of their category – with numerous others picked from a shortlist of 130 to be highly commended.

  • The high entry price of £549 + VAT per SKU is too big a risk for small businesses, however confident they are in their brands.
I appreciate that The Grocer focuses on Mutiple Grocery, and for big FMCG businesses, with huge marketing budgets, this is a drop in the ocean.
But it would be nice to see some Newcomers' awards for small businesses as well. - For those real innovators and entrepreneurs risking their all - the ones to watch in the year(s) to come.
    - At a much reduced entry price.

Good luck to all of those businesses in 2019!
