Scores of Welsh food and drink manufacturers descended on Carmarthen last week to catch the eye of Tesco buyers. They were offered the opportunity to pitch their products to buyers looking for new locally produced lines.

At the Antiques Roadshow-style event, among the 120 that turned up several gained listings including Carwyn Adams from Caws Cenarth Cheese, pictured on the far right, with fellow hopefuls Tiffany Jenkins from Loseley Ice Cream in Cwmbran and Neil Quigley from Penderyn Distillery.

Not to be outdone, rival Sainsbury's said its Dragon's Den-style meet-the-buyer initiative, called Supply Me Something New, is to begin a series of roadshows this month to seek out new local suppliers. The first will be held at next week's IFE07 trade show, with further events to take place every two months.
