The bars feature a marbled mixture of white and dark chocolate, encasing the brand’s crispy wafer centre

Nestlé has unveiled a new ‘stripy’ Kit Kat bar combining dark and white chocolate.

Called Kit Kat Zebra, the bars feature a marbled mixture of both chocolates encasing the brand’s crispy wafer centre.

Kit Kat brand manager Callum Smith said the choc offered “the best of both worlds”.

The bar is made with Rainforest Alliance-certified cocoa, and contains no artificial colours or flavours. It has rolled into the mults, with a wider launch into the convenience sector to follow (rsp: 85p/41.5g). A 3x41.5g multipack will hit Tesco exclusively.

Nestlé is tying the launch into its ‘Win a Break From Bills’ promotional campaign. Eight specially produced Kit Kats featuring the word ‘winner’ across the bar will be hidden across the UK and Ireland, with £10,000 up for grabs for shoppers that find them.

It’s the latest in a series of outré launches over past years from the lbrand, such as Kit Kat Gold, which features milk and white chocolate with caramel, and Kit Kat Pink, which rolled out in 2018 made with the ruby chocolate created by Swiss chocolatier Barry Callebaut.

However, it comes after a disappointing year in the mults for the Kit Kat brand: its sales were down £9.8m to £100.4m – an 8.9% decline – over the year to 5 September 2020 [Nielsen].
