Kerridge has applied to register the names ‘Humble Pie’ and ‘The Humble Pie by Tom Kerridge’ with the Intellectual Property Office

Celeb chef Tom Kerridge looks set to challenge Pukka and Higgidy with his own retail pie range, The Grocer can reveal.

The chef, owner of the double Michelin-starred Hand & Flowers pub in Marlow, has applied to register the names ‘Humble Pie’ and ‘The Humble Pie by Tom Kerridge’ with the Intellectual Property Office.

He is seeking to register the names under class 29, covering meat, and class 30, accounting for pies.

Kerridge told The Grocer he was “looking at lots of different projects over the next few years, one of which is the possible launch of a pie range called The Humble Pie by Tom Kerridge”.

“It’s very early days but it’s exciting, so watch this space.”

He already sells a line of sauces and ketchups direct to consumer, in addition to meal kits from his Marlow-based restaurant The Coach.

Kerridge is no stranger to fmcg: last year he fronted a TV campaign for Hovis for its posh Bakers Since 1886 range.

He served Hovis’ premium burger buns from the range to customers at another of his restaurants, The Butcher’s Tap & Grill, also in Marlow.

Then, for Christmas 2021, he launched a range of super premium turkeys – starting at £145 – in partnership with Berkshire-based luxury turkey farmer Copas.
