Heck has discontinued its Meat-Free Chipolatas following disappointing sales and a push to revitalise its alternative range.
The North Yorkshire-based premium meat brand released a statement on Instagram on Wednesday with the headline ‘Time to say Chipola-ta-ra’ with the announcement that “our Meat-Free Chipolatas will be waving goodbye at the end of December”.
“They’ve had their moment in the pan, but unfortunately demand hasn’t quite sizzled enough to keep them on the shelves,” the brand stated.
Among the comments of disappointment on the brand’s Instagram one user called the decision “another step backwards for vegans”.
The brand has previously stepped away from meat-free SKUs to refocus on “doing a few things really well”. The discontinuing of the chipolatas means the brand no longer stocks any plant-based options.

Heck founder Andrew Keeble said that the business had plans in place to launch new products in 2026 but ”these will be healthy and full of real ingredients with fibre and will bring taste to the category”.
“We are still committed to making meat-free work, so we are not stopping forever more ‘putting our foot on the ball’ whilst the sector settles down,” said Keeble. “There has been a sea of sameness out there with many brands, who are backed by either crowdfunding or PE, just losing money – which we will not do.
“Many brands have never shown a profit and will ultimately fail.”
