KP Snacks has extended into cashew nuts to tap “special” snacking occasions.
Featuring “rich” roasted jumbo cashew nuts, its new sub-range, called KP Signature, has debuted in Sea Salt & Rosemary and Smoked Chilli & Red Pepper (rsp: £3.50/90g).
It catered to consumer demand for “great-tasting treats when relaxing with friends and family”, offering the “ideal choice for more special snacking occasions”, KP Snacks said.
Packs will hit Co-op this month, before rolling into the traditional big four.
“As the market leader in nuts, we are delighted to excite and reinvigorate the segment with the launch of our brand-new KP Signature range,” said KP Snacks senior brand manager Rachel Horrell.
“The nuts segment is growing ahead of the overall CSN [crisps, snacks & nuts] category and we are tapping into this with a delicious, high-quality sub-range that caters to moments where consumers want to relax and unwind with a special treat.”
Indeed, value sales of snacking nuts rose by 5.5% to £544m on volumes up 1.5% in the year to 22 February 2025, while value sales of crisps & snacks rose by 1.8% to £4.4bn on volumes up 0.3%, according to NIQ data.
However, KP Nuts’ £2.7m gain over the period was thanks to higher prices; it sold 1.7 million fewer packs through the tills.
The launch of KP Signature comes as competition is heating up in the category, with PepsiCo launching That’s Nuts, a range of coated peanuts in flavours inspired by its popular crisps brands, in July.
