Wine Drums in focus

The wine promises a ‘rhapsody of wild strawberry and ripe red berry aromas’

Queen drummer Roger Taylor has become the latest celebrity to launch a wine brand, having debuted a Provence rosé.

The first release from Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé, Cuvée Rock n’ Roll 2025, will debut via DTC and in two major mults from next month (rsp: £18/75cl).

A blend of 70% grenache and 30% cinsault grapes, it promises “a rhapsody of wild strawberry and ripe red berry aromas” paired with “fresh citrus acidity” and “silky creaminess”.

The wine is made by Provence wine co-operative Les Caves du Commandeur and has been brought to market with investment from Sony Music, Watermill Wines and Rupert Clevely, former UK MD of Veuve Clicquot.

It was “positioned to deliver the quality and finesse associated with top Provence rosés, but with a more accessible and unpretentious approach”, a press release announcing its launch said.

“We’ve always believed in doing things properly, and that was the starting point here,” said Taylor. “I’ve spent a lot of time around rosé over the years, and I wanted to create something that felt consistent, expressive and genuinely enjoyable in partnership with good friends.

“This isn’t about putting a name on a bottle, it’s about creating something with real integrity.”

Other celebrities to launch their own wine brands in recent years include Kylie Minogue, Gary Barlow, Elton John and Graham Norton.
