The Grocer Gold Awards has become an award winner in its own right after picking up top honours at a leading industry awards ceremony.
The event, widely regarded as the “Oscars of fmcg”, won Gold for Best Development of an Existing Awards Event at the Conference & Events Awards and Awards Awards 2026. It also picked up Bronze in the Awards Event of the Year category.
The judges praised The Grocer Gold Awards, describing it as a “high-quality show with amazing production values”.
In their comments, they added: “Strategically sound and built on operational excellence, marketing was rigorous and holistic, while capping the shortlists maintained quality control. The venue change to a prestigious location has clearly driven significant growth in attendance, entry revenue and sponsorship. This was a well-executed evolution delivering impressive commercial results.”
The Grocer Gold Awards has been held at the Royal Albert Hall since 2023, marking a new chapter for the blue riband event, which celebrates excellence across every stage of the UK grocery industry.
Accepting the award, editor-in-chief Adam Leyland said it was a welcome recognition of the hard work that had gone into transforming the event.
“Moving the Gold Awards from the Guildhall to the Royal Albert Hall has been no small undertaking,” he said. “Our vision was to host the awards in a venue befitting the history, scale and importance of the UK grocery retail industry.
“The Royal Albert Hall was a unique fit, but delivering an awards ceremony on this scale in such a prestigious venue has required huge teamwork and a steady, incremental approach over the past three years. We’re all chuffed to bits to receive this recognition.”
Hot on the heels of the award win, this year’s Grocer Gold Awards is taking place at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday 7 July, bringing together hundreds of retailers, suppliers and industry leaders to celebrate the best of UK grocery.
There are 33 awards up for grabs, recognising individuals, teams, brands and companies of all shapes and sizes across the grocery retail, wholesale and supply sector. New sponsors include Tesco (startup of the year), DHL (SME brand of the year) and Kerry (own-label range of the year).
