Lidl is celebrating summer with an event dedicated to its own label Hortus gin range.

The discounter is hosting its gin festival from 15 July, with 10 Hortus SKUs inspired by destinations around the globe hitting shelves, including a new Hortus World Botanicals collection. Lidl has also detailed the perfect serve for each product to maximise the drinking experience

This take on the classic Old Tom, popularised in the 18th century, features botanicals including angelica, coriander, juniper, lemon and orange. Coming in at 40% abv, the flavour profile of the Old Tom is slightly sweeter than a London dry, but drier than varieties found in the Netherlands.

And, of course, the flavourings are topped off with Florida orange botanicals.

Perfect serve: Mediterranean tonic, grapefruit wheel.

Hortus World Botanicals –  Mediterranean Citrus Gin

Lidl gin3

£17.99

Though many will choose not to travel this summer, they might indulge in an imaginary trip to the Mediterranean via Hortus World Botanicals’ third and final SKU. Lidl describes the 40.2% abv gin as “punchy” with a citrus kick and herbal finish, accompanied by lemon and grapefruit botanicals directly from the Mediterranean.

Perfect serve: Mediterranean tonic, blood orange slice, rosemary sprig, grapefruit peel.

Hortus Pink Grapefruit & Elderflower Gin Liqueur

Hortus Gin Festival, July 2021
