Frustrated shoppers have used Twitter to complain of a shortage of soya milk in the mults

Supermarket shelves are being left empty of soya milk due to production issues at an Alpro factory.

Danone, which owns Alpro, confirmed it was “temporarily experiencing some low availability of our Alpro soya milk in UK supermarkets”, after shoppers took to social media to complain of shortages.

This was “due to some production challenges in one of our factories, which we have been working hard to resolve urgently”, a spokeswoman for the business said.

“We are now sending out supplies to retailers every day and anticipate our stock levels should start returning to normal in the next few weeks.”

It comes as frustrated shoppers have used Twitter to complain of a shortage of soya milk in the mults over recent days.

One shopper tweeted she had not been able to find it in the Fairfield Park Sainsbury’s in Bedford “for 2 weeks now”, adding that shelf tickets for the product had been removed.

Another shopper asked whether the brand’s Soya No Sugars Chilled 1L was still listed in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, adding that it hadn’t been available “the past 4 or 5 times I have visited each store in Beaconsfield”.

At the time of writing, Soya No Sugars Chilled 1L was listed as out of stock on Tesco’s and Asda’s websites.

Soya Light Chilled 1L and Alpro Soya Chocolate Chilled 1L were also unavailable at Asda.

In Morrisons, Soya Light Chilled 1L, Soya Light Long Life 1L and Soya Growing Up Long Life 1L were out of stock.
