Mason has worked in the wine trade since the 1960s, starting with a holiday job at Fortnum and Mason. He was a founder director of Oddbins in the 1960s and then moved to Augustus Barnett. After working for Northwest Vintners he then helped to establish Majestic Wine Warehouses.
