Innocent is opening a pop-up restaurant in East London in bid to help 5,000 people get their 5-a-day.
The 5 for 5 Café will open at the Tramshed in Shoreditch for seven days from 1 October. Diners will get a two-course meal for £5 and be able to choose from a selection of main meals containing three portions of fruit and veg and a range of starters and puddings containing two each.
The café would promote Innocent's core mission of getting consumers to eat more fruit and veg, said Innocent co-founder Richard Reed. The café was also part of the company's strategy of running a number of small, unusual projects instead of one big campaign, he added.
The café's menu, devised by presenter and food writer Gizzi Erskine, will include dishes such as black bean hummus on sourdough toast with avocado, tomato and seeds, and meringues with Greek yoghurt and autumnal compôte.
