Boots is recruiting more than 10,000 temporary staff in retail, warehousing and operations to prepare for the busy festive period.

The company said it would primarily be looking to employ 6,500 Christmas customer assistants.

In addition, Boots will employ 3,000 warehouse operatives and picker-packers, and 2,000 in-store customer operations assistants to support day-to-day operations.

The retailer said new employees would be part of its enhanced staff discount programme, which was introduced to provide support during the cost of living crisis.

The scheme will see workers get a 45% discount off all 6,500 Boots own brand products until at least January 2023.

“Team members who join our business over the festive period are always truly valued members of store and distribution centre teams, providing crucial support for our stores and customers alike,” said Boots head of recruitment Donna Hodgins.

“We’re looking to recruit a diverse range of team members that represent the communities we serve every year.

“Our roles are perfect opportunities for anyone looking to explore career paths in the retail industry to gain valuable work experience that could potentially lead to a permanent position in future.”
