Gracie Tyrrell squirrel sisters

What was your first job? I was 16 and worked in a lovely bag shop in Bath.

What was the first music single you bought? Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl, and B*Witched’s album.

How do you describe your job to your mates? It’s my passion… I love everything about Squirrel Sisters and what we are trying to achieve.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Working with my sister Sophie who is the other co-founder. We get to bring our passion to life and do it together, which has been incredible, supporting each other through the ups and downs and being there for each other through more stressful times.

What is the least rewarding part? One of the things I find most tedious is setting up our stand at trade shows. Being a tiny team (it’s just the two of us) means we have to do everything.

What is your motto in life? Trust your gut.

If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? Weekly massages.

Do you have any phobias? Cockroaches.

If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? To see supermarkets support smaller businesses that are trying to make a genuine difference. Sugar is a huge issue, diabetes and obesity are on the rise, but so many supermarkets are still supporting big brands based on marketing budgets. Consumers want healthier options and small brands like Squirrel Sisters are trying to meet these needs, but visibility on shelf often comes down to having the biggest marketing budget.

What luxury would you have on a desert island? An unlimited supply of ice cold sparkling rosé.

What animal most reflects your personality? An owl.

What’s your favourite film and why? Father of the Bride… a classic feel-good film.

What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Probably shouldn’t say…

Which celebrity would you most like to work with and why? Beyoncé… I love her work ethic, how she empowers women (and men) and think she is incredibly talented.

What would your death row meal be? Aubergine parmigiana to start, truffle mac & cheese for main, chocolate soufflé for dessert and a Squirrel Sisters cacao orange bar as an after-dinner treat.
