Toblerone Golden 2

The NPD will roll into retailers this month (rsp: £6.26/360g)

Toblerone is hoping to capitalise on the blonde chocolate trend with a limited-edition launch.

The NPD promised the crunchy nougat of a classic Toblerone in “beautifully crafted” golden caramel chocolate, it said.

It will go on sale in retailers this month (rsp: £6.26/360g).

Described as a “perfect” seasonal gift, it would help retailers to drive premium sales, claimed the brand.

It would also help retailers tap into more occasions by appealing to younger adult shoppers, who had “shown an appetite” for caramelised white chocolate, Toblerone added.

Brand manager Claire Kamara said she was “incredibly excited to combine the increasingly popular flavour of caramelised white chocolate with the iconic crunch of Toblerone in a proven consumer-favourite format”.

Kamara added she was “confident that Toblerone Golden would help the brand to reach even more shoppers and allow retailers to drive additional sales this year”.

The launch will be backed by PR activity and in-store support.

It comes after Toblerone owner Mondelez last summer brought Cadbury Caramilk to the UK – and expanded the range with a Buttons format in February.

Mondelez isn’t the only manufacturer hoping to capitalise on the blonde chocolate trend. Mochi ice cream brand Little Moons this week launched a new Golden Blond Chocolate flavour into Tesco.
