Applied Nutrition has begun construction of an 84,000 sq ft global distribution centre

Applied Nutrition has begun construction of an 84,000 sq ft global distribution centre and corporate HQ in Knowsley.

Upon completion, the development will increase the company’s total operational footprint to over 204,000 sq ft across the Liverpool city region.

It will materially enhance warehousing capacity, fulfilment speed and operational efficiency, ensuring the business is positioned to scale alongside expanding retail partnerships and global e-commerce growth.

It was designed to support accelerating demand across both UK and international markets, following a record-breaking year of growth, said Applied Nutrition.

“We’re incredibly excited to be embarking on this next chapter for Applied Nutrition,” said Applied Nutrition CEO Thomas Ryder.

“Securing planning permission, and now commencing construction, allows us to invest ahead of demand, strengthen our operational capabilities and ensure we are well positioned to support our partners and customers as we continue to grow globally.”

Applied Nutrition last month upgraded its full-year forecasts as the sports performance group performed significantly ahead of expectations in January.

Revenues increased 57% to £74.5m in the six months to 31 January with EBITDA ahead of management expectations, the group said in a trading update.

In January, it teamed up with Morrisons to launch a 53-strong range of fresh, frozen and ambient food products as part of a major shake-up of the supermarket’s own-label offer.

This included seven ‘GLP-1 friendly’ ready meals, launched under the retailer’s ‘Small & Balanced’ banner.
