Biotiful range

Biotiful has doubled revenues in just two financial years

Sales at kefir market leader Biotiful raced 44% higher in the run-up to the brand’s acquisition by Müller last year as the gut health trend intensified.

In the 12 months to 31 March 2025, revenues hit £46.8m, with the business doubling in size in just the past two financial years.

As a result, pre-tax profits soared by 111% to £4.8m during the year, according to the newly filed accounts.

Founder Natasha Bowes has pioneered the kefir category in the UK since launching Biotiful in 2012.

The brand has consistently expanded its product range, including into new areas such as overnight oats, and massively increased distribution in supermarkets, as well as pushing into own label with a product made for Aldi.

Tesco doubled its offering of the Biotiful brand last year as the UK’s biggest retailer launched an entire bay dedicated to kefir.

Biotiful’s exponential growth resulted in Bowes selling up, with a £115m deal struck with Müller in April.

At the time, Müller said Biotiful would help the dairy giant expand into new growth areas to meet changing consumer needs. It added it was “confident our investment in Biotiful will enable the brand to further accelerate its growth potential, benefiting both consumers and our retail partners”.

Biotiful’s latest Companies House accounts also showed the business completed a buyback of a number of shares on 24 April 2024 for £4m as Bowes took back 100% control. The shares were then cancelled on the same day.
