Morrisons said it had funded the seasonal cut without cutting the price paid to farmers, who were paid a ‘fair price’

Morrisons and Aldi have cut the price of Easter veg to 4p as supermarkets battle to win the big shop for the bank holiday weekend.

Having sold veg for a new low of just 5p during the 2025 Christmas dinner price war, Morrisons and Aldi are knocking a further penny off for Easter, in offers running from 30 March to 5 April.

Morrisons will sell 1kg carrots, 500g parsnips and a whole swede for 4p each in the run-up to the Easter bank holiday.

Morrisons has also dropped the price of 2kg The Best British White All Rounder Potatoes to £1 from £2.30, and is running other offers across lamb and beef joints.

As with its Christmas veg prices, Morrisons said it had funded the seasonal cut without lowering the price paid to farmers, who were always paid a “fair price”.

“Easter celebrations aren’t complete without a spread of classic seasonal veg,” said Fraser Lovatt, Morrisons Market Street director.

“By lowering the price of staples like carrots, parsnips, swede and potatoes, we’re helping customers put together the perfect Sunday roast without stretching their budget or compromising on quality.

“These cuts are part of our ongoing commitment to deliver fresh food, great value and extra support at key seasonal moments when food matters most at home.”

Aldi is offering 2kg of potatoes, 1kg of carrots, 1kg of onions, 500g of parsnips, garlic and swedes for 4p each.

It follows Aldi dropping the price of its whole leg of lamb from £6.19 to £5.95 per kg.

Aldi said it partnered with British growers and used fixed-cost pricing to ensure they received a fair price no matter the season.

Lidl said last week that it was cutting the price of Easter veg lines to 8p. Tesco has dropped the price of carrots, white potatoes, parsnips, swede, broccoli, brown onions and cabbage to 15p for Clubcard holders.

Sainsbury’s has also dropped the price of seasonal veg to 15p for loyalty members, but on fewer lines, with swede, potatoes, savoy cabbage, parsnips and carrots included in its offer.
