Vinarchy has appointed Amanda Almond to head up its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Almond will replace incumbent EMEA MD Derek Nicol, who Vinarchy said had decided to “step down and pursue other opportunities”, on 1 September.
A 25-year industry veteran, Almond was most recently head of Bacardí’s operations in northern Europe, Iberia, Greece, the UK and Ireland.
Prior to joining Bacardí in 2013, Almond worked in “senior leadership roles at PepsiCo and Lindt”, said Vinarchy.
“Amanda is known for her commercial acumen and strong leadership, alongside her passion for growing premium brands and high-performing teams,” said Vinarchy executive chairman Ben Clarke. “She brings a great mix of industry knowledge, strategic thinking and people-first leadership. Her experience and energy will be a great asset as we continue to grow our presence across EMEA.”
Almond added: “I am thrilled to be joining Vinarchy at such an exciting time for the company. I look forward to working with the EMEA team and our valued customers across the region to grow our amazing portfolio of brands and drive the wine category forward.”
Clarke also thanked outgoing regional MD Nicol for his “contribution and leadership” during his five-year stint at Vinarchy and its predecessor Accolade Wines.
“Derek has played a key role in transforming the EMEA region and leading our global supply chain,” said Clarke. “We thank him for his drive, energy and commitment over the past five years. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
Vinarchy was formed earlier this year, following the merger of Accolade Wines and Pernod Ricard’s strategic international wine arm.
It is one of the largest suppliers of wine globally, and its brands include Hardy’s, Jam Shed, Echo Falls, Jacob’s Creek, Brancott Estate and Mud House.
