William Reed is a long-time supporter of GroceryAid

As the grocery sector continues to face mounting pressures — from rising costs to employee wellbeing challenges — this week’s GroceryAid Day (8 May) offers a reminder of the importance of people-first initiatives across the retail industry.

For retailers, suppliers and brands alike, GroceryAid’s confidential and comprehensive support spans financial aid, mental health services, and crisis support.

It is a vital resource that underpins the resilience of the workforce. From head office executives to frontline shopworkers and warehouse teams, no role is too small to benefit from its safety net.

Behind the scenes, William Reed is a long-time gold supporter of GroceryAid, playing an essential role in keeping this momentum going. By promoting awareness, championing events, and engaging the industry in charitable drives, it aims to embed welfare support as a core part of retail’s operating ethos.

This year, GroceryAid Day has launched the first-ever GroceryAid Day Raffle where, for £1.50 per ticket, supporters can be in in with a chance of winning big. Prizes include £1,000 in grocery vouchers, VIP experiences, luxury escapes, family days out, as well a pizza oven or new TV.

Entries close on 31 May online and on 6 June for postal submissions, with a cap of 20 entries per person. Full details are at winyoursummer.groceryaid.org.uk.

This year’s GroceryAid Ball helped raise more than £700,000 for the food and drink industry.
