The brand has created two ‘care boxes’, one of which is vegan-friendly

  • Mindful Chef claims the next-day service is a UK first for a recipe box business

  • The one-off care boxes contain the ingredients and recipes to create three meals for two people

Recipe box brand Mindful Chef has launched one-off next-day deliveries for locked down Brits.

The move – which Mindful Chef claims is a UK first for a recipe box business – will allow shoppers to order one-off care boxes containing three meals for two people, which are guaranteed to arrive the next day if ordered before 7pm, from 19 April.

The brand is offering a choice of two boxes, one with meat and the other vegan-friendly.

They provided shoppers “everything they need to cook delicious nutritionally balanced meals, including step-by-step recipes, pre-portioned ingredients and fresh meat and produce sourced from small award-winning British farms”, said the brand. They were ideal for shoppers “concerned for their loved ones at this time” it added.

“In recent weeks we’ve had an increasing number of customers getting in touch to find out the best way to gift a Mindful Chef recipe box to a loved one in need, said Mindful Chef CEO Tim Lee.

“The recipients of these boxes are often highly vulnerable and unable to leave the house or simply struggling to find the food they need in the shops. Our priority was to develop a product that enabled people to send their friends and family delicious fresh food quickly and we hope our new Care Box will help solve this challenge.”

The news comes as fellow recipe box business Gousto this week revealed it had secured a £33m cash injection to aid its growth over the coming years, with plans to hire 700 new jobs by 2022.
