As traditional barcodes begin to phase out, UK food and drink businesses must prepare. Join our Grocer Vision webinar where indusry experts will share insights on cratfing a strategy that not only prepares businesses for this packaging revolution, but capitalises on the commercial and operational benefits it creates.
There are only two years left until the traditional barcode could start to disappear from UK food and drink.
By 2027, a global initiative spearheaded by GS1 UK will see an industry wide push to two-dimensional (2D) barcode technology, a change that they say could unlock endless opportunities for the sector to eke more value out of packaging.
Unlike traditional 1D barcodes, this next-gen technology will have the capacity to improve inventory management, enhance recall readiness, facilitate greater sustainable and – ultimately – improve brand trust.
But unlocking these potentially significant commercial benefits won’t happen without the right strategy in place.
So, as the deadline approaches for what’s been dubbed ’Project Sunrise’, how prepared are FMCG brands and retailers to navigate the change?
What lessons can those already piloting the technology share? What use cases hold the most promise?
And how exactly can both brands and retailers go about making the most of this sector-wide shift toward smarter packaging?
In this upcoming Grocer Vision webinar, industry pioneers and strategic advisors from GS1 UK, Markem-Imaje, Creative Nature and CEC will share insights on how exactly UK grocery can get prepared for the biggest packaging shake-up in years and embrace all it has to offer.
They’ll explore the myriad use cases for the technology, from building digital bridges to brand experiences, to providing far greater transparency and complying with the rapidly growing roster of product data now required.
And they’ll share best practise tips on crafting a strategy that unlocks all the potential benefits this creates, for both brands and retailers.
Plus, you’ll get a chance to put your questions to our expert panel.
