Finsbury Food Group (FFG) has launched a Wicked-themed celebration cake to coincide with the release of Wicked: For Good.
The cake’s “striking” half-and-half design represents the film’s two main characters, Elphaba and Glinda.
Elphaba’s half is an “indulgent” four-layer chocolate cake, decorated in green icing, while Glinda’s is a “fluffy” vanilla sponge, iced in pink.
The “innovative” cake has rolled into Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s (rsp: £16/1kg).
Intended as a “go-to centrepiece” for Wicked watch parties, themed gatherings, birthdays and more, the cake was a result of FFG’s 15-year partnership with Universal Pictures, which was renewed earlier this year.
“It’s rare to find a cake that is quite literally two different flavour profiles split right down the middle, but it felt like the perfect way to pay homage to the central themes of Wicked: For Good and its two leading cast members,” said FFG brand manager Andrew Scott.
“We certainly had some fun conjuring up this cake in collaboration with Universal.”
FFG has previously launched cakes inspired by Universal’s Minions, Jurassic World and Gabby’s Dollhouse characters.
It isn’t the only fmcg supplier hoping to cash in on the buzz around the latest Wicked movie, which will be released tomorrow (21 November).
Stoats unveiled Wicked-themed green and pink snack bars in September. In the same month, Ordo unveiled a four-strong range of toothbrushes inspired by the franchise.
Last month, Butterkist launched limited-edition Wicked Fizzafying Lemonade popcorn into supermarkets.
