McDonald’s UK&I has appointed Tim Kenward as chief marketing officer to oversee all aspects of the marketing function.
Kenward brings more than 15 years of end-to-end marketing experience across the McDonald’s system to the role, starting his career in Australia, where he held numerous brand and marketing positions.
More recently, he held the role of senior marketing director for the International Operated Markets (IOM) business unit, partnering with managing directors and chief marketing officers to deliver commercial and brand performance across a range of markets.
In this role, Kenward oversaw the reinvention of value strategy in key markets, and most recently the World Menu Heist – inspired by the UK and Ireland campaign – which became the fast food giant’s first multi-market campaign.
“I’ve watched the work that’s been done in the UK and Ireland with admiration over a number of years, so I’m really excited to be leading a team where I know inspiration thrives at every corner and creativity is so deeply embedded in the culture,” said Kenward.
“We have some incredibly exciting marketing campaigns on the horizon this year, and I’m looking forward to celebrating our iconic menu items in fresh, relevant ways that resonate with our customers.
“I’m looking forward to using my experience within the global system to combine strong local insight with global best practice, and my focus will be on driving continuous growth, innovation and long-term brand excellence across the region.”
His appointment comes after Ben Fox stepped down from the role of chief marketing officer in April, after 14 years with McDonald’s.
Speaking of his departure on LinkedIn, he said: “I’m extremely proud of everything we have achieved together over the years, none more so than the sales growth over the last 16 months.
“Having completed the restructure of the talented marketing team, I know they are well positioned to build on this momentum and grab all of the future commercial opportunities. I’ll be cheering from the sidelines as you go on to ever greater success.”
