Poundstretcher is hosting an open day for suppliers to turn up without an appointment and showcase clearance lines to its buyers.
The variety discounter is inviting fmcg suppliers to show up at its Kirby Muxloe HQ on 20 August for a “great opportunity to showcase your best clearance deals” and “highlight any special offers to our team of buyers”.
A similar event on 10 July proved a “huge success”, according to Poundstretcher head of fmcg trading Kyle Storey.
Calling to suppliers on LinkedIn ahead of next week’s event, Poundstretcher said: “Key areas for us right now are health & beauty, household, food & drink and pet.
“There’s no need to book – just turn up and add your name to the board in reception.”
Storey added: “Our last supplier open day was a huge success – so we’re doing it again, this time with a big focus on fmcg.
“If you’ve got great deals and innovative products, I want to see them.
“Looking forward to meeting both new and existing suppliers on the day.”

Poundstretcher was acquired by US investment firm Fortress in April last year and has since been shaking up its ranging and pricing proposition, including adding hundreds of new branded products.
The discount chain has yet to file accounts covering its first year under new ownership. In April this year it extended the current accounting period to end on 28 June instead of 28 March.
The retailer, which Fortress bought from Aziz Tayub, currently has 300 stores, according to it website. The number has fallen from 314 in March last year.
Storey has been Poundstretcher’s head of fmcg trading since September last year, when he joined from Poundland, where he was head of trading. He has also previously held senior buying manager positions at Lidl and Ocado.
