Aluminium bottled water brand Re:Water has quadrupled its production capacity with the opening of a new facility in Herefordshire.
The new site will be operational from next month following a £2m investment by Re:Water brand owner Berrington Spring Water.
The move was designed to meet growing demand for alternatives to plastic bottled water and would help “support major grocery and retail contracts”, said Re:Water.
It would allow the business to “add extra production lines, hold more stock on site and bring the operation further in-house”, the brand added.
The expansion follows a period of sustained growth for Re:Water. Value sales were up by 60% year on year in December, Re:Water said.
The brand is now stocked in more than 5,000 distribution points across the UK including Marks & Spencer, Pret a Manger, Itsu, the National Trust, and London Zoo.
Benjamin Rendell, director at Berrington Spring Water, said: “We’re growing at pace and were forecast to reach capacity at our existing site. This investment is about staying ahead of that growth. The new site gives us the space to scale properly – adding production lines, increasing stock holding and making sure everything remains in-house and under our control.”
In 2026, Re:Water plans to add to its existing 500ml and 330ml recycled and recyclable aluminium bottles with a new 750ml format.
It comes amid growing demand for packaged water in the UK. Volumes surged by 12.8% last year, driven by hot weather and broader health trends [NIQ 52 w/e 6 September 2025].
Within packaged water, brands and retailers were “under increasing pressure to offer credible plastic alternatives”, said Re:Water.
Aluminium formats stood out for their “recyclability, circularity and strong consumer acceptance”, it added.
