Sticks’n’Sushi’s foodservice arm experienced a surge in sales in 2024 as the group underwent a year of “transformational change”.

For the year to 31 December 2024, the sushi restaurant chain reported EBITDA of £6.6m and revenue of £86.8m, a dip from the £90m generated in 2023. However, the brand said multiple sales records were broken over the period, including on New Year’s Eve 2024 and Valentine’s Day 2025.

It also noted its evolution as a “true multichannel proposition”, with the growth of its dine-in offering, its delivery and takeaway offerings, and its “rapidly accelerating” B2B and catering business, which experienced sales growth of 37% in the year to date.

Over the period, the restaurant group expanded to 30 sites, and three catering and delivery kitchens. It also noted significant investment, including its first restaurant refurbishment since 2021 in Valby, and the launch of a new brand website.

“I am tremendously proud of the progress we have made and our many achievements over the last 18 months,” said Sticks’n’Sushi CEO Andreas Karlsson.

“We opened three new restaurants successfully and, in the process, created almost 200 new jobs, on top of which we launched a breakfast offering and continued to deliver an outstanding level of service and food quality in the like-for-like estate.

“Supporting the dine-in sales, the team have also grown our B2B and catering sales, demonstrating the quality of our proposition across all occasions. We also launched our first major menu refresh in over three years in October 2024.”

In January 2024, investor McWin acquired a majority shareholding in Sticks’n’Sushi, in a move that Karlsson said would allow the business to accelerate its growth in existing markets and enter new markets over the next five years. The brand currently operates in the UK, Denmark and Germany.

“The first year under McWin’s ownership has been a productive one,” Karlsson said. “We are well placed to extend our presence across the UK and Europe with Glasgow opening later this year and further openings anticipated in 2026 in the north of England and Europe, bringing an affordable premium experience to many more guests in the coming years.”
