PepsiCo has recalled its Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box after wheat was not correctly labelled as an allergen.
Wheat was not declared as an allergen on the outer box, despite being present in 85g packs of Monster Munch Giants Roast Beef. The individual bags inside the box are correctly labelled and no other products are affected.
The affected 655g box carries use-by dates of 21 November 2026 and 16 January 2027, and batch code 107543. It contains six packs of Monster Munch and Wotsits, and is sold in Iceland.
The FSA said the product contained gluten, “making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease”.
Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the affected product, explaining to shoppers why the product is being recalled and what to do if they have bought it.
Consumers that had bought the product and had an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or coeliac disease, should not eat it and instead contact PepsiCo’s consumer care line on 0800274777 or visit contact.pepsico.com/walkers to receive a full refund, the FSA advised.
“We have recalled the Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box 655g sold only at Iceland, because the outer box does not state that one of the products inside contains wheat,” a PepsiCo spokesperson told The Grocer.
“The quality and safety of our products is of paramount importance to us, and we sincerely apologise. We are working with the FSA, Iceland and allergy groups to inform consumers.”
It comes after PepsiCo recalled selected packs of Doritos Chilli Heatwave in July that may have contained Doritos Tangy Cheese tortilla chips, posing a risk for shoppers with a milk allergy.
