Northern Irish meat supplier Hannan Meats has scored a deal to supply Fortnum & Mason catering arm with premium beef.

The company will start supplying beef dry-aged in Himalayan salt to Fortnum & Mason restaurants and other catering operations from January. It already has a listing with the premium retailer for Moyallon Guanciale - a premium bacon usually produced in Italy, for which Hannan won the Supreme Champion Award at the Great Taste Awards earlier this year.

MD Peter Hannan said securing the restaurant and catering deal with Fortnum & Mason was “tremendously encouraging” for the company. “It’s also immensely important for our farm suppliers, who provide consistently high quality Glenarm Shorthorn and European Angus cattle as part of an arrangement which ensures them good returns for animals,” he added.

Fortnum & Mason trading director Simon Burdess said Hannan’s dry-aged beef would allow the retailer to start 2013 – and its celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation - “in style”.

“Serving this handsome beef with help from Hannan Meats and their amazing ageing process in our restaurants will certainly be a fine way to begin our celebrations,” he added.
