Hamid would be charged with ‘leveraging technology to drive innovation and operational efficiency across the business’

AG Barr has appointed Usman Hamid as its chief digital and technology officer.

Hamid will report directly to CEO Euan Sutherland and be charged with “leveraging technology to drive innovation and operational efficiency across the business”.

He joins from global healthcare specialist Haleon, having previously worked for GlaxoSmithKline, Barclays and the BBC.

His appointment marked “a significant milestone in AG Barr’s journey to strengthen and accelerate its digital transformation roadmap”, the Irn-Bru maker said.

Hamid’s expertise would be “instrumental in building the next phase of a unified data strategy, designed to enhance how AG Barr connects with customers, consumers, and employees alike”, the supplier added.

“I am joining AG Barr at an exciting time in its 150-year history,” said Hamid. “Technology is the cornerstone of innovation, and I look forward to working with our team to accelerate digital transformation and deliver solutions that empower the business to drive growth.”

Sutherland, AG Barr CEO, added: “I am delighted to welcome Usman to the AG Barr family. His appointment signals our firm strategic commitment to accelerating our digital capabilities.

“Usman’s deep expertise in business transformation and data strategy will be pivotal as we leverage technology to build a world-class digital framework that supports our long-term growth.”

In September 2025, AG Barr reported substantial profit growth in its H1 2026 results, with profits up 20% off the back of rising prices and better operating margin.

Revenue increased by 3% to £228.1m in the 26 weeks to 26 July.
