Climate technology company Avallen Solutions is set to launch a new platform to help drinks brands with their sustainability ambitions and reporting.
The cloud-based tool will enable brands to calculate their full carbon footprint including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and analyse the full lifecycle impact of individual products.
It will also help them to track their progress towards the new, stricter B Corp standards, as well as use a built-in “anti-greenwashing checker” to ensure all marketing and impact claims are robust and defensible in line with the UK’s new Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act.
The project, dubbed the ‘Pioneer Partners programme’, would hail the end of “green-guessing” and empower founders of SME drinks brands to focus on growing their business without neglecting sustainability, said Avallen Solutions founder Tim Etherington-Judge.
“I see brilliant founders who are masters of their craft frustrated by spreadsheets and admin rather than doing what they love,” said Etherington-Judge. “Often, they are ‘green-guessing’ instead of growing.
“We built this platform to give them the data-driven confidence that retailers, investors, and a new generation of citizens are demanding in a simple-to-use platform so they can get back to the work of making great drinks.”
Avallen Solutions is currently seeking 20 SME drinks producers across all categories (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to test a beta version of the Pioneer Partners tool. Eventually the tool will be expanded to include paid subscription tiers, depending on the level of sustainability reporting that brands require.
Participants in the beta phase would receive “dedicated hands-on support and will be instrumental in shaping the platform’s future”, Etherington-Judge said.
“There are a number of off-the-shelf solutions like Evora and CarbonCloud, but I wanted to have a solution where we collaborate with brands to find out what is going to be most useful for their business,” he said. “This is their chance to get ahead of the curve, turn sustainability into a powerful story, and build a more resilient business.”
